Autumn is a season that inspires me. If you look through my haphazard posting, you'll see that's abundantly clear: a pumpkin inspired post exists! It's the time of year that I return to writing, creating things inspired by life.
This year has kept me quite busy, as I wrote my first ever Cat Hat book (due out in March!). That project has made me consider the way I present myself, and my business. I feel as though some rebranding is in order. To get that underway, I'm beginning to revamp my Etsy. Please, go check that out for updated photos and such!
In the meantime, I leave you with: Sinclair "Larry" the Cat, looking quite handsome (and huge!)

Happy Cat Year!
{pictured above: my last christmas cat hat order of 2011, about to be packaged and sent on it's merry way!}
What a fun "Holidaze" season this has been for me! I successfully shipped out over 120 Christmas orders within 6 weeks (that's about 120 hours of knitting, on top of a full time job). Yay SK! It's so rewarding to know that kitties around the world got to be a little more festive this year :)
I'm working on some fun new hats for Valentine's Day and early Spring, but first, let's discuss these cupcakes:
{gingerbread cupcakes with homemade vanilla buttercream and pretty sprinkles!}
I got a new Kitchen Aid Mixer for Christmas, and the first thing I thought to make was... cupcakes! Of course :) I exercised some self control and only ate 3 (spaced out within a day... hey, it's the holidays!) I used a box mix for the gingerbread cake and a wonderfully simple and delicious buttercream recipe from my bff brenna gentry! yum-o!
I hope that everyone's Holiday was merry and bright! Check out my etsy after New Year's for some fun new designs... Here's a little sneaky peak:
{some bunny loves you... it's the Love Bunny Cat Hat!}

A Pumpkin Kinda Day
There's been a bit of an orange theme going on in my apartment today. It started with these:
Pumpkin Scones with Maple Icing!
Yum! I couldn't resist... and I thought it as so cute that their shaped looked Pumpkin-ish when I pulled them out of the oven. What's a girl to do other than make yummy coffee and eat one (or 2) for brunch?
A little necessary sustenance as I continue to knit loads of Halloween cat hats!

The Summer Fruits Collection
I confess that I love a theme. I love it so much that I create thematic collections- of cat hats. Last summer, I did a line of feline headwear based on "Rumours" by Fleetwood Mac. This summer, I chose fruit. Because- well, what's cuter than a cat with a Chiquita-inspired hat?
I present- the Strawberry Cat Hat! Hand knit from red cotton... and soo cute on Dorothy (though she doesn't seem to agree...).
My NEWEST addition- The Banana Cabana Cat Hat! Note the pipe cleaner- a friendly bribe in exchange for a decent photo of Dorothy.
Don't fret if you feel your pet is under-dressed- shop scooterKnits here!
(I don't discriminate against dogs- custom sizes are available for pets of all sizes! Just email me at scooterknits@gmail.com).

SEW crazy!
Knitting has kind of ruled my creative life for the last 2 years. So much so that I felt my modest sewing skills start to slip. SEW I decided to make a little skirt for myself. Once I saw this blue checked fabric, I started having visions of the 4th of July. You might not know me that well, or at all, but know this- I LOVE dressing up for holidays that don't require it. Christmas- eh. Easter- sigh. 4th of July?! I'd like to look like a fabulous Americana chick. I'd like a 50's inspired silhouette.
The answer? A (rather imperfect) Picnic skirt! Check the pics out.
The pocket lining is my FAVORITE part!
I'm sorta tempted to wear this inside out.
I've still got the hem to finish, and um, a lot to brush up on sewing. But considering I made this without a pattern (and with a hazy recollection of my last quarter in school), I'm patting myself on the back
The skirt is high-waisted, and hits about mid calf. I added two gussets (one in the front, one in the back) for movement. I'm thinking of making a patchwork-ish bow, attaching it to simple white tank, and calling it an outfit.
